PETO & RADFORD. CONTINUATION 2.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fowler Clark Esq.,

1st April 1926.

With regard to our plates swelling and breaking when you try to get them out, we thought that this might happen and after we had delivered about 100 of the R.R.11 the width of the plate was cut down from 5" to 4 7/8" to avoid this and I do not think you will find the same thing with a modern battery. Also the extra ¼" of sediment space which you have been having now for some months will also help matters, and I think you will get better results still from a battery that was made say since last Xmas.

We are hoping to introduce further improvements towards lengthening the life of the plates before very long and Mr. Preston is now working at this.

I am sending your letter to the Works for their comments and if they have any further ones I will let you know.

Yours sincerely,

F.R.N. Minchin
