Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} V7410 To. Wer. from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Springing Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}18/E15.5.30 Copy to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Complaints. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Ar. As you are aware our worst complaint for years on Phantom I was springing, and it cost - and is still costing - the Company large sums of money dealing with these complaints. When Phantom II was introduced, we were under the impression that there was one trouble which we really had got at rid of and that wasthe springing complaint. The following is an extract from a memo. received yesterday from N. in regard to a Phantom II springing complaint: "I think it is also known to you that there have been a very large number of complaints about the springing on WJ. and XJ. series. Speaking offhand, I should say that they exceed in number the springing complaints which we had in respect of the last batches of Phantom I's, and that has reached a very high figure." I think that this is a matter which we might discuss next week when I am at Derby. I understand C. has sent BY a list of complaints, of which I attach a copy, and I am sending a copy of this note to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and A.{Mr Adams} and should be glad if they would send BY so that he receives it not later than next Monday a note of any additional Phantom II complaints over and above those mentioned in the attached list.
