DIPPING HEAD LIGHTS.

Referring to our RL/M20.6.24., addressed to CJ., we are informed that whilst the Sales conference are decidedly in favour of dipping head lights, they would like to see a car on which our design is fitted, and to which the suggested modifications by themselves have been made.

Their comments were :-

(1) The angle of dip was insufficient and they asked for a dip which is constituted by the uppermost edge of the lamp travelling 2 1/4" from the vertical compared with the correspond-ing measurement of thirteen sixteenths given by the scheme on the 20 HP. chassis - 4-G-11 - as seen at Sales on Feb.1st. last. Will you please arrange to provide this.

(2) The sagging exposed thin operating wire was disliked. We suggest that as a remedy this wire should be made of fairly big diameter, say 1/8" stranded cable, and that its length should be so adjusted that it is reasonably taut when the lamps are in their normal position.

EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} hopes to be in London on Wednesday next and would like if possible to shew Sales a Car (possibly 4-G-11) having our design of dipping head lamps with these modifications, as Mr. Royce is anxious to get the matter squared up. Would you kindly let us know if this can be done.

The tubular fork arms carrying the lamps appear to be rather flexible, and no doubt it would be an advantage, (as we believe you have suggested) to slightly increase the diameter and thickness of these for future sets. Will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please see to this.
