X4466 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}9/MG28.9.28 TENOID LININGS As arranged, we have instructed Messrs. Morgan Crossley to proceed with an initial bulk order for Tenoid Linings in their Grade P. material, and in response to your query as to how Grade P. differs from Grade PM, they write:- "In regard to the distinction between Grades P and PM, "we would say that the distinction consists of a relatively "slight variation in the cohesion of the finished Liner due "to variations at certain stages of the manufacturing process. "As the letter names imply, Grade PM constitutes a sub-grade "of Grade P, and the practical significance of the "distinction lies in the fact that in one case the main "grade, and in another case the sub-grade, is more suitable "for given particular braking mechanisms. "We note that in your case you have decided to adopt "Grade P, and we might say that this decision is that which "we ourselves should have made. We shall accordingly execute "in this grade. Yours faithfully," ROY{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
