TOTAL ENDWISE CLEARANCE IN BEARING = .017 (SHOULD BE .002 NIP) SPIGOT FACE OF COVER & ADJACENT WASHER (GB.613-8) WORN DUE TO WASHER REVOLVING. ALSO WASHER WORN .009 AGAINST BEARING COVER BADLY GROOVED IN BORE DUE TO FLOATING BEARING DISTANCE WASHER FILED IN BORE ALSO CHAMFER FILED ON BOTH SIDES BEARING WORN ON TRACKS. & COATED WITH A HARD THICK DEPOSIT OF CARBON, & THICK OIL. BURRS ON DISTANCE WASHER & FACE OF THRUST BEARING HOUSING. MAX .013 HIGH CHISEL MARKS ON CENTRE CASE, DISTANCE WASHER, HOUSING & COVER TO DENOTE THE CORRECT POSITION. THESE MARKS HAVE CAUSED BURRS ON THE RESPECTIVE FACES BEDDING WITH LINING UP BUSH SHOWN SHADED. THERE IS A CLEARANCE OF .004 OVER THE REMAINING FACE. CENTRE CASE G.B. 612. ADJUSTING WASHER S100833-4 HOUSING G100829 THRUST BEARING HOUSING SCORED .001 DEEP IN BORE BORE VARIES -.0002 TO +.0002 AT BOTTOM. AND +.001 AT TOP (+/- 1/2 LIMIT ON DRWG) CONCLUSION:- FAILURE DUE TO INSUFFICIENT NIP ON BEARING ON ASSEMBLY.
