Copy to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}✔ HH. LID{A. J. Lidsey} ORIGINAL: X 293. XXXXXXX "CA'ACHA". WEST WITTERINGHenry Royce's home town. CHICHESTER. 21. Oct. 1932. Messrs Park Ward & Co. Ltd. Dear Sirs, re. EXPERIMENTAL BODIES. This is to confirm our remarks during our visit last Sat., and to complete the finishing instructions for the 2 door, all-weather Coupe. 4 DOOR CLOSE COUPLED SALOON - WHEEL AT SIDE We left you a pattern of 2 shades of mole colour. We wish the whole of the body, chassis, and wings, to be the lighter shade, also the head. The mouldings are to be to the darker shade. We shall send you the wheels to finish the lighter shade. The leather is to be of soft texture as in your P. 2. Show car, and of a colour to blend with both shades of mole. Messrs Connolly have already done this for our car painted this colour at the Paris Salon. We leave you to choose a suitable head cloth and carpet. The finishers we would like to be of wood in colour like those on the Hooper car on our Stand, but to the shape of those on your Show P. 2. 2 DOOR ALL-WEATHER. We confirm that the body, chassis, wheels, and wings, are to be painted black. The head cloth should be grey twill to either of the patterns attached. Unfortunately the one which is the thicker, and we like, is duck, and we believe it shrinks badly. Such head cloth as is used should match the head twill. We will settle the finishers when I next call at your Works. The leather chosen by Sir Henry is attached. It is hard, and rather light in the ground. We think you will wish to get Messrs Connolly to supply a few patterns of leather similar to that in your P. 2. Show Car, but pale grey. We can see these when we next call, and then get Sir Henry to reconsider his choice. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS ROYCE LTD. EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
