1370 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/MH.{M. Huckerby} 16th. January, 1939. Messrs. Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr. H.E.Price. Dear Sirs, Herewith copy of letter we have sent Mr. Sharp concerning the last 16" wire wheel. With regard to the special tyre valve experiment you are doing for us, we have come to the conclusion that it is essential to have the standard 5/8 hole in the rim so that if, at any time, a customer cannot obtain the special tube for the wheel disc he will be able to use the standard tube by omitting the disc. This means that, contrary to what we told you, we shall not require the set of special wheels with the small hole for the valve. We hope that the set of wheels for which we have asked Mr. Sharp to GDS.1551 will soon be available for test. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
