TRACINGS
---------

Recently an important batch of tracings made from a confidential technical paper have been mislaid, presumably accepted from the Tracing Office by someone other than the person for whom they were intended.

In future all requests for tracings must be clearly marked with the department and person to whom they should be returned. At the same time the Tracing Office should keep a record of the dates and people concerned in the transaction.

It is hoped that requests for tracings outside the normal routine will be kept down to an absolute minimum, and so avoid interference with the production requirements.

Should any likely delay be anticipated in D.O. work by excessive outside requests the matter should be brought to my notice immediately.
