To EFC. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL E2/G29/3/19. 2 X.3488 RE ELECTRIC STARTER MOTORS. RECEIVED 1 APR 1919 In connection with the design of the starting motor on the 20 H.P. engine, we have to decide whether two or four brushes shall be used. Would you kindly, in accordance with Mr. Royce's instructions, inform us as to what is the general practice in this respect, taking as examples, Lucas, C.A.V. car starting motors, etc. (also the quality and hardness of the brush used.) We would also like to know what is the usual current density per square inch of contact allowed on both the first starting rush of current, and on the current when the engine is being turned over regularly. This matter is of an urgent nature, as we are actually engaged in preparing a drawing. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Signature] H'K S32V (200 L) (E'D' 408 S9-4-11') BW' S122U'2. | ||
