Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}6/MH.{M. Huckerby} 7th October, 1938. S. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Grylls Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Grylls, Thank you for your letter of 6th October. We will be pleased to see the tyre which you have returned. Regarding the question of whining at speeds, tests which we have been carrying out with this tyre at the factory confirm your report and we are now proposing to modify this tread to some extent to include variable pitch in the design which we think will eliminate the whining. We will prepare a set of 6.50/16 covers with continuous shoulders and knife cuts in our present pattern. Kind regards, Yours sincerely, [Signature] Works Manager. THE MARK OF SERVICE | ||
