Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of Sept. 29th, reference A/NCDB/4, which we regret has not previously been replied to, the reason being that it was addressed personally to an official who was away from the works and only returned last night.

The man you refer to - Charles Bowen - started with us in December 1911 and left here on August 11th. 1914. The reason of his leaving us was due to the dislocation of trade in connection with the European war. He was a good, careful and skilful driver, also a good mechanic and time keeper. His conduct whilst in our employ was very good and he can be trusted to undertake adequately responsible work without supervision.

Yours faithfully,
(Sgd Illegible)
