X.4383 - GOSHAWK DYNAMOS AWAITING TEST IN ELECTRICAL LABORATORY.

Oct 3

(1) Dynamo B. which was removed from 4-GII engine unit (being replaced by dynamo No.161) which has been slotted to enable its main brushes to be retarded to the up-to-date position, it is intended now to fit this with experimental brushes or springs (say heavier springs) and give it over for 8-GII engine in return for dynamo E, as it is an old machine. [Handwritten:] Sent to R.H.C. for 3G.II.4 afterwards for 6GII.

(2) Dynamo No.288. This is the dynamo belonging to our bench experimental brush tests, the brush gear of which broke down recently. The dynamo has been fitted with complete new brush gear and is ggain ready for test and further brush tests. [Handwritten:] Going again

(3) Dynamo R.3. removed from 3-GII in order to put new brush gear upon it, the old brush gear having been removed and submitted to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} for his inspection. [Handwritten:] Ready with EG2. brushes for 7GII.

(4) Old dynamo A.{Mr Adams} taken from 2-GII because the machine had developed faulty operation. [Strikethrough:] was noisy in operation. This is being arranged by us with new brushes and will be returned for 2GII in due course.

(5) Dynamo No.562. which has been handed to us via Mr. Brock from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} as being a noisy machine, is to be investigated by us. We are instructing for this to be put on chassis 3-GII for noise investigation, while another machine, [Handwritten:] (3) is being prepared for this chassis.
