The curves are taken on battery circuits of volt-ampere characteristics defined by the two volt scales A and B, A representing the characteristic for the cold condition and B for the hot, these characteristics of battery circuit being secured as already explained. It will be noticed that in this instance again, the performance of the Bosch dynamo is superior to those of the others. We have not yet made a careful study of the particulars of design of this machine to be able to give the exact reasons of its superiority.

(3) Numerical particulars. It will be noticed from the table that one feature of the Bosch machine is the very small air gap. On this table it will be seen that there are columns for particulars of other dynamos than those for which curves are given. In time the table will be completed and other curves issued for the remaining dynamos, otherwise this table carries its own explanation.

(4) Liberty Dynamo. These are the details of the Liberty aero dynamo. The reason of including this machine with the others is that it is a plain shunt wound dynamo and has a vibrator controller, the performance of which will sometime be investigated. At the moment, we are dealing with the performances of plain shunt wound machines only.

(5) Bosch Dynamos. These sheets give a few particulars and remarks about the Bosch dynamo and its peculiar winding. The numerical particulars are also on the big table. In connection with the description of the armature winding we
