RE. LUCAS

Replying to your Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E.22.3.37., we have not yet fitted a Lucas distributor to one of our 10,000 miles test cars. The only one we have at present is fitted to an engine on the test bed and this is giving trouble due to oil coming up between the distributor shank and the support casting.

Messrs Lucas have been informed of these faults and are arranging for modifications to be made. We do not propose fitting one of their distributors to a car until these troubles are overcome.

Regarding Mellotone Horns, the horns fitted to 35-EX. were of the correctly modified type, but as pointed out in my last memo the modifications embodied do not prevent the horns from going out when driving in mist, rain or snow.

With regard to your last paragraph, we have written to GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} to ascertain if the Delco-Remy Horns have yet been fitted to 35-EX. for trial.
