Dear Mr. Nutt,

Re: "C.J" Sports - 10.EX.

I expect you are familiar with the estimate you have sent to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town in connection with certain alterations to the One Car. Mr. Munro sent a copy to Mr. Cowen on the 31st ultimo.

The position is, that we do not feel justified in spending about £350. on these alterations. We are of the opinion that your charge for the work is very high and in connection with Experimental Cars, we feel you should not expect to make any profit out of the work whatsoever, especially as any information which is obtained as the result of the work, is passed on to you.

We therefore feel you should be prepared to do the work at Cost - or even below Cost - for Experimental purposes. Would you please go into the matter from this point of view and let me know the very lowest price at which you would be prepared to carry out the alterations.

Should you be unable to reduce your price to an amount which we consider reasonable to spend on this body, I am afraid it will be necessary for us to offer the work to a less expensive type of Coachbuilder.

I should be glad if you would let me have a reply quickly, as the matter has already been held up some little time.

Yours sincerely,

General Sales Manager,
Rolls-Royce, Limited.
