Modifications to pedal travel, plate load, and spring drive for a clutch.

The separation is now back to the original amount .092 and the extra 1" pedal travel recently secured has gone into a reduction of pedal plate load from 37.8 to 27.8 lbs.* Part of this reduction has come from the reduced spring load allowable with V.M.20 as compared with Ferodo No.6.

A new die for the pedal is not necessary as elongation of the existing boss will be satisfactory as a permanent scheme.

A temporary scheme is given, for experimental purposes only, to enable an existing forging to be adapted.

N.Sch.5017 shows a modification to N.Sch.4998 to reduce cost. The retaining pieces for the springs in the spring drive are deleted and the springs are held between the plates as on the Long clutch.
