Phantom III.

Revised Clutch to N.Sch.4998.

We send herewith N.Sch.4999, 5000, 5004 and 5017 in connection with the above.

N.Sch.4999 shews the casing.

Ventilation holes are provided as on the Borg and Beck casing. The air inlet holes have no gauze filters as it is thought that we might as well start without these and determine for ourselves whether they are necessary.

A number of the bolts at present used to attach the upper half of the casing to the crankcase and to the lower half have been deleted. In due course the corresponding bolt bosses on the crankcase should be deleted but to commence with they can be left undrilled.

The top half of the casing must now be removed before it is possible to get at the screws which secure the operating shaft to the thrust bearing housing. This means the detachment of the foot switch from the dashboard but not the disconnection of the wires as these can be left long enough to make this unnecessary.

The inspection cover has been deleted as unnecessary.

The casing can now be die-cast.

N.Sch.5000 gives a layout of the operating linkage.

N.Sch.5004 shews the operating lever, pedal and connecting link.

The lever on the operating shaft is unaltered but the pin in the pedal is nearer the pedal shaft giving
