LONDON, W.3.

Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Major Searight.

We have recently come across two difficulties on the gauges which you are supplying for production.

(1) The position of the glass tube in the dash unit is such that the taper base of the unit comes opposite the "No Gallons" mark. The result is that either to make the gauge read correctly over the whole of the scale the level of the red fluid has to be adjusted so that when the tank is empty the gauge is actually shewing half a gallon in the taper of the glass tube, or if the quantity of fluid is reduced to shew zero when the gauge is empty the rest of the scale reads half a gallon high. The gland at the top of the glass tube prevents us altering the hieght of this.

(2) The air pump tube in the tank unit which has a very fine bore becomes blocked up.

We should be obliged if you would give both these points your immediate attention.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
