The front springs of this car hit the buffers at the slightest check at moderate speeds. On examination the clearances are as follows :-

NSF. 1 1/8"
OSF. 1 1/8"
NSR. 3 5/8"
OSR. 3 5/8"

It should be noted that there are 1/2" packings reducing the buffer-clearance in the case of the front wheels to the dimension stated.

I shall be glad to have your views as to what you consider would be the best modification to make in view of the above; removing the 1/2" packings would doubtless reduce the tendency to hit the buffers so soon, but probably you had a good reason for placing these packings in position.

If you consider that a heavier pair of springs should be fitted in front will you have them sent as soon as possible to N. where the car is having sundry jobs attended to, as obviously we wish this demonstration car to be capable of giving the very finest impression possible.
