Re: 40/50 HP. Speedometers.

We are in receipt of your EY/Wtn2/K11.7.28.

We certainly are surprised to hear that to fit smaller type dials it is necessary to fit new reduction gears. This, we think we can safely say, is the first time this point has really me been made clear to us and all our correspondence with ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} for the last few months, has intimated that the only outstanding difficulty was the question of A.T's being able to give us instrument with the temperature-compensating device.

The fact that special gears are necessary comes as an additional surprise to us at this date, because the small instrument was adopted in the WW. dash instrument scheme and you will remember that as long ago as this time last year, R.{Sir Henry Royce} was pressing for its standardisation and in particular, for its use on last year's Olympia Show Cars, and we cannot recollect any question being raised of the gears.

However, the facts being as they are, it is quite clear that we must give up the idea of having them on the Show Cars and content ourselves with the knowledge that they can commence with H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} series.
