ENGINE. Power and acceleration up to standard performance. Tappets noisy. Half crankshaft period noticeable. Engine gears rattle. CLUTCH. Engagement of clutch smooth after the fitting of new fabric drive. No sign of slipping. GEARBOX. Change of gears very lumpy and stick. Selector shaft requires bringing up to standard. STEERING. On wet roads the steering is unreliable. Noticeable difference on dry roads. BRAKES. Fair, front thump, rear brakes require new fabrics. All adjustment taken up. SPRINGING. With 300 lbs. ballast in rear the riding is very solid and feels dead with maximum load on dampers. There is no appreciable difference in the front seats. HYDRAULIC CONTROLLED DAMPERS. The control retains its efficiency. Slight leak of oil from front N.S. damper pipe union. This was tightened up three-quarters of a turn. No loss of oil from dampers. No squeak from pump during day's mileage. REAR AXLE & PROPELLER SHAFT. The rear axle and propeller shaft are in a poor condition, both leak oil and considerable wear retesting has taken place. HEADLAMPS. The headlamp pillars will not remain firmly secured to the chassis frame, bolts are continually working loose. BODY. The body is full of rattles. G.W.H. | ||
