I trust the third round with Skinner would be sufficient to cure the evils of the Petrol Pumps.

They still come rolling in here for failure and noise.

The filter on the new cross member is certainly getting over failures of the system. It has not definitely overcome evaporation troubles, but sufficient not to cause stoppings, or loss of speed.

The petrol pumps manage to clear the vapour and if we can get this quiet all will be well.

It does not cure noise due to that. This is entirely another matter.

When cold the diaphram is less flexible and retards the action of the armature. When hot the diaphram is more flexible and a quicker action takes place with the consequent hammering effect of the armature. Hence our method of cutting off the power before the armature has reached its stroke i.e. 4 1/2 turns back from choc. of the diaphram. Your rubber block will attain the same results.
