Here is a slightly less futuristic sketch than previously of what I believe the Allison head to be like. The position is shown where they tried the central spark plug. With regard to petrol injection, I feel that, since it can be applied to any engine we make without much alteration, it might be worth some work while the compression ignition is hanging fire as a half way step for flying boats, as the best advantage can be gained with the over lap timing when the altitudes are low. | ||
