Unfortunately I did not receive your letters dated Jan.19th. and 26th. until today, they had been lying here awaiting me all this time, you see I did not stay here when last in Detroit, and even when I arrived on Thursday they were overlooked. I will however deal with points mentioned in your Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9/WJ.26.1.34.

It had occurred to me that since lead bronze bearings are operated at such high temperatures of 275°F.{Mr Friese} & 125°C., and bearings have run satisfactorily at still higher temperatures, that design of oil coolors will be affected, since temperature will be near danger mark with solder, and had therefore arranged to call at Schenectady to see General Electric Co. who are specialising in Hydrogen brazing, as something on these lines will be necessary.

Hope that reports which have been sent on lead Bronze tests will have satisfied you. Feel sure that we can produce equally good bearings at Derby, with tackle of course.

Considerable development on lead Bronze bearing production is in progress here, G.M. Research are now working on a process which consists of casting in a controlled atmosphere, and which permits of bearings being produced with still higher lead content. I am visiting Research on Monday and will obtain particulars if possible.

I have arranged to see Mr. Kettering and Mr. Spencer at Research on Monday morning to discuss details of license for lead Bronze bearing production, this however will be reported on later.

I have had no difficulty to get anywhere, although Allisons at first were a bit tough, left them however on very friendly basis, and arrangements were made whereby we will be kept informed of bearing development.
