To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, The weather being extremely hot caused us further trouble with failure of the petrol system during our run here yesterday. Our first experience was after we had stopped to change the carburettor needles whilst doing this, the petrol in the carburettor suddenly squirted up the heat having made it boil whilst standing. We started up after changing the needles and had not proceeded far when the engine petered out. Fortunately we were travelling down hill and before we reached the bottom the pipe lines had cleared themselvs and the engine fired. We tried the procedure of again stopping at the top of a hill with the same result. Upon reaching Rouen we had to stop for a few minutes which was fatal, the engine would not start. | ||
