Comparison of Magneto Belt and Chain Drives.
In comparing these drives, the lowest sparking speeds, for advance, central, and retard, on the 2 S.H. Bosch Z.R.6. Ed{J. L. Edwards} 19, were taken first with the leather belt and then with the chain.
The spark gaps were set at 5.5 m.m.
With Belt.
(a) 85 rpm
(b) 140 "
(c) 200 "
With Chain.
(a) 68 rpm
(b) 128 "
(c) 175 "
It will be seen that there is a distinct advantage with the chain.
