| Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/ML. 9.4.40. Sir Alexander Duckham, Woodlawn, Page Heath Lane, Bickley, Kent. Dear Sir Alexander, I must apologize for not answering your letter of the 29th. March before, but I have been trying to get some valves from a car at present being serviced here, which have done similar mileage to those you have sent me, in order to get a direct comparison. You will of course, appreciate that our exhaust valves are stellited at considerable expense, in order to enable them to stand up to lead corrosion, and therefore they will always look better than unstellited valves taken from the average car. Owing to the war conditions which prevail here I have not been able to put my hand on the valves I was looking for and am therefore returning your samples to you under separate cover without having been able to make a direct comparison. I must say that the exhibits are in exceedingly good condition. Yours sincerely, | ||
