666. To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}8/MH.{M. Huckerby}13.7.39. 30.G.VII. In view of the exceptionally good oil consumption on this car we should like you to raise the main pressure to register a pressure of 40 lbs/sq.in. when hot at high speeds (100°C inlet to brgs.) This unit was passed off the bed at 32 lbs/sq.in. - 100°C - 4000 r.p.m. The pressure can be raised by stretching the spring, but before and after doing so would like you to check the oil supply to the timing gears particularly at low speed to confirm that the gears are not starved of oil.
