666 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rml/R.14.7.39. Road Report on 30-G-VII. In discussing the radiator shake with AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}, I am informed that when two diagonal stays are fitted to rationalised radiators it eliminates radiator shake, and, in consequence, is likely to reduce bonnet knocks. The stays are simply rods running from the dashboard to the centre of the radiator. I should be glad if you would try these out, and let me know if, in your opinion, they improve the car. We have been running 11.B. here with two blocks of wood, instead of rubber, in the front engine mounting. The engine is still remarkably smooth, though the crankshaft periods at 30 and 50 m.p.h. are now detectable. It has, however, made a very marked difference to the front end shake. It might be worth trying this when for other reasons the car is held up. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
