x300 a Lillie Hall to W. HFH{Hoppy F. Hamilton}2/L/1.10.36. He/Wm. Re: 35 EX. - - - - With reference to your memo of the 30.9.36, which states that the mileage increased from 157 to 458 in two days. This is not altogether correct, as the following list of day by day mileages show. We find about 100 miles per day is as much as we are able to obtain and up to the present we have not been outside London apart from a short run on the North Circular Road. DATE. DAYS MILES. TOTAL MILES RUN. 22.9.36. 50. 50.) Daily report. 23.9.36. 107. 157.) " " 24.9.36. 101. 258. " " 25.9.36. 105. 363. " " 26.9.36. 49. 412.) " " 28.9.36. 36. 458.) " " 29.9.36. 102. 560. " " We hope that this will satisfactorily show that the daily runs are fairly constant and that up to the present we have not exceeded 107 miles in one days running. You also remark that the oil consumption varied from 1,250 m.p.g. to 680 m.p.g. 1,250 m.p.g. was obtained after the oil had been drained and changed over to Castrol XL on GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}'s instructions. This might have had the result in the sump being just overfilled which would naturally affect the consumption figure at the next replenishment. You will note, however, that the consumptions since then have remained fairly constant, i.e. 800 - 850 m.p.g. H.F. Hamilton. [Signature] HF{H. W. Frost - Coachwork Inspector} Hamilton | ||
