Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} TB/KNG.1/JT.17.7.41. 1044 Iron Foundry. With reference to our conversation of 16.7.41 re B.40 Engine (75 m/m), the cylinder blocks we made are as follows :- RE.107 - 1 in standard 1% Nickel Iron Index 12440 2 in 1% Nickel, .2 to .25% Chrome, " 16540 ) .25 to .35% Molybdenum " 1540 ) RE.112 - 1 in 1.5% Nickel, .2% Chrome, .3% Molybdenum " 10540 1 in 2% Nickel, .25% Chrome " 22540 These were delivered to Exp. Dept. in May 1940. I have investigated the possibilities of casting an aliminium head and skirt combined D.13256/1, and do not see any reason why this cannot be done. Therefore I am getting hold of pattern equipment as used for alum. castings and will attempt to make a casting for you, and will either supply you with a casting or let you know of any major difficulties why one cannot be produced. At the moment I feel very hopeful of the proposition. TB/KNG. L.D.Ruagg | ||
