To HFS. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/JNK. 1129 CHASSIS SINGLE CYLINDER UNIT. In order that the shop may proceed with jobs for the above unit in their correct order of urgency, we give below a brief outline of our programme for the next few months. Scheme. Sct.58. This is a cylinder head of the Phoenix type, and should be treated as of the utmost urgency, as this should be tested before final designs are completed. It is, however, a major job, and in the meantime other smaller jobs could be proceeded with. PD.22. This entails the fitting of - (a) a replacement plain valve seat (b) a Venturi type seat to cylinder head Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}315. We are anxious to try this, and as it appears a fairly simple job, would like it first. This is, therefore, the first job, and we are more or less marking time on the unit until we get it. PD.24. This is a major job and involves a new head, fitted with a 1.600" diam. inlet valve. It should be progressed side by side with the Phoenix head above; and if possible the two heads be made ready for fitting simultaneously. There would then be no delay in testing these items, the importance of which cannot be over-stressed. Contd. | ||
