BENTLEY II.A. REAR AXLE. G.C.D.23.

We give below points for consideration in connection with the above.

Rear Axle LOP.GB.3028.

1. We suggest flanges on distance piece GB.2969 and adjusting washer GB.2970-6 be deleted and suitable notes added to drawing calling for ends to be perfectly flat and square. A similar note will also require adding to drawing of axle shafts GB.2963-4 referring to adjacent ends.

2. Adjusting washers G.100269/76 are too small in bore to fit on axle shafts GB.2963-4. We suggest these be deleted, as they are not required by G.C.D.23.

3. Inspection cover G.100823 is an S/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} forging; we recommend an aluminium casting be used similar to Phantom/III and 25/30 H.P. practice.

4. Spring suspension bracket GB.2833 - the holes in the flanges (for brake carrier plates) are drilled in an offset position. We suggest these be made symmetrical to eliminate handing for R.H. and L.H. side.

Rear Brakes LOP.GB.2861.

5. We recommend that the hole for the adjuster spindle in dust cover GB.2834-5 be made more watertight by fitting a rubber washer on inside.

6. It has been found necessary to file flats on oil guards GB.2738 and GB.2747 to overcome difficulty in assembly.
