(1) SUPPLIES.

The general position of supplies up to 1500 chassis is satisfactory, but there are one or two exceptions which are rather worrying us.

Springs. The reason of this shortage is mainly due to our want of policy in keeping delivery of springs as low as possible. We do not consider the spring job a very serious one inasmuch as we are sure that Mr. Whitehead will be able to get Woodheads to give us all that we require, and we think that the position will be straightened out with sufficient deliveries in the course of the next seven days.

(2) RE GENERAL ATMOSPHERE BETWEEN ROLLS ROYCE OF AMERICA INC. AND THE PARENT COMPANY.

We have received quite a number of letters recently, through CJ. from Mr.Belnap, which most in the first instance have been inspired by the Technical Staff over there, putting forward a number of very serious complaints in regard to the attention which is being given at Derby, to the requirements of the American Company.

We are strongly of the opinion that the first essential, in order to obtain good results, is a sympathetic atmosphere in America, and this, at the moment, we feel we have certainly not got.

With reference to the various memos addressed to Derby, in every instance we have been able to show that the information called for has either been supplied once, and in some cases twice, or that we were unable to
