Rubber connection at front end Y8770 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}1/H10.6.25. re. "V" Series Chassis. Further to my memo EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}2/H23.5.25, the following are further points which have since come to our notice, and to which I shall be glad if you will give similar consideration:- 25. Noisy Magnetos. This is, generally, a most pronounced feature of noise when the engine is running "dead slow". I do not recommend that this should stop output, but we should continue to take action with the makers for still quieter magnetos. I understand that Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has already supplied you with samples for this purpose. 26. Autovac - jingling noise apparently from the internal fittings. This has been demonstrated to us by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and also appreciated on the cars on test by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} We do not consider it is a point which should delay output, but action should be taken to ascertain the actual cause of the noise, with a possibility of cure being obtained by the makers. We should at least be in a position that, should a customer complain of the above noise, we should be able to replace the autovac with one which is satisfactory in this respect, or possibly rectify the existing one. 27. Autovac - at times causing erratic slow-running. This is also a feature which has been demonstrated and is fully appreciated by all concerned. Although it has a similar weakness on 20-HP and "U" series cars, it is specially noticeable on "V" series chassis. We do not recommend delay in output for this trouble, but suggest that investigations should be made with a view to overcoming or alleviating this trouble for future output, and be in a position to correct same retrospectively, individually or collectively according to complaints.
