WYNN 442 See me To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sy. HP. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} re 20/25 HP. and P.2. Silencers. We send you herewith drawing:- LeC.3759 showing various modifications to the 25-HP. silencer to avoid 'rattles' and 'crackles'. This should be put in hand experimentally as soon as possible and tested on the next 10,000 miles car. P.2. silencer should be treated in the same manner. The object of the modification is to avoid making parts to close limits. What we have done is to cut the central pipe into three pieces and forming the sliding baffles with a rolled over edge, so that there is no chance of the edge of the diaphragm cutting into the silencer shell and causing a crackling noise.
