X411 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}30/KW. 8.4.35. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Timing Gears. We wish to obtain some information as to the durability of the Fabroil Idler Gear on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III, and for this purpose require a rig for endurance testing the gears. We think the rig should take the form of a SpectreCodename for Phantom III crankcase complete with bottom half and timing cover and the following items :- (1) Dynamo. (2) Water Pump. (3) Oil pump and its driving gears. (4) Plain shaft in place of crankshaft. (5) Plain shaft in place of camshaft and extended at rear to take a Bentley balancing cam. The balancing can can be mounted on a flat plate which in turn is secured to the clutch housing joint face. The rig will be direct driven by electric motor at the flywheel end of the plain crankshaft. Provision should therefore be made for a coupling on the plain shaft. Will you please detail the necessary parts and construct the rig. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.J.Hardy. | ||
