To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X 4050 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG7.6.20. X.3923. RE 6-EX. CAR. X.4050. X.3482. We are sending you herewith two samples of colours for this car. We should be very pleased to have your criticisms as quickly as possible. We certainly think it would be advisable to have the chassis, springs and frame and the inside of the mudguards painted black. Black is the only colour which will not show tar stains. It is, of course, impossible to avoid getting tar on to such places as the springs and frame. With reference to wheels, we were making arrangements to fit Michelin disc wheels to this car but as it seems improbable that we shall ever fit Michelin disc wheels as standard because of using straight sided tyres, we should like to know whether Mr. Royce would prefer wier wheels fitted with Goodyear demountable rims and stright sided tyres.
