Contd. -3- EFC5/T26.9.19. They reckon that these machines can be in production in two month's time sufficient to meet both our demands, if we standardise these, and those of other firms. X-Shorty. We propose putting one of these dynamo on the car for the 10,000 mile test. The other machine, after making a test of this, we can send down to Mr. Royce for his inspection if necessary. We mentioned to Messrs. Smiths the point about the dynamo carcase being of cast iron. They stated that in the sample machine sent to us, this was not cast iron, but a special grade of wrought iron which we could not easily distinguish from cast iron. They, however, definitely assured us that all the machines supplied to us, would have steel carcases, in fact we saw quite a number of these steel carcases in various stages of manufacture. EFC.
