DYNAMO ON PEREGRINE CHASSIS.

We have received your memo ns{Norman Scott}/Wst.2/AD.8.11.32.

In our report we said that the headlamps were not on, and we meant to infer that the charging rate was with only the side and tail lamps switched on. Also that during the day's charge we were not getting sufficient output with the winter charge. We note from the chart you have sent, that we should have been obtaining an output of 8 amps. maximum. Taking 1.5 amps. off for the ignition this should have left us 6.5 amps. charge. We were only obtaining approx. 4 - 5 amps.

The chart for the summer charge gives an output of approx. 5 amps. We were only getting approx. 3 amps., which is probably not far off being right with the ignition current being taken from it.

We realise that when the headlamps are switched on it short circuits the resistances, and we obtain the full output of the dynamo. This of course is not what we were complaining about, but was the day time charge which was too low to compensate for the heavy charge taken out of the battery by the use of the starter motor.

We have temporarily short circuited the resistances and are obtaining an output of 12 amps. during our short periods of running, we are doing up to the present, during the day. We have done this to fully charge up the battery.

We will, as soon as we are satisfied with the condition of the battery, carry out your suggestions of checking the dynamo output. The results we will let you have shortly.
