6/120. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re 19-EX. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}16/E16.11.32 Thanks for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/MA.12.11.32. From Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}14/E16.11.32 to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} you will see the decision we have arrived at as the result of a trial of this car. We notice that 19-EX has a very pronounced piston tap from cold, which seems to remain longer than would normally be acceptable. I assume that this is peculiar to this car and not something which you would expect us to accept in the ordinary way with the 19-EX engine modifications. 58-GN which had similar modifications (minus balanced crankshaft) did not suffer from this feature. I was very pleased with the slow running of the engine of 19-EX and if we can take this as a standard of what we shall receive, there should be no cause for complaint. Sg.{Arthur F.
