BY.17/G.1.9.38. 658 WRAITH CHASSIS WEIGHTS. SK.6/E.25.8.38. It has taken some time to accumulate and verify the accuracy of the information necessary to reply to your memo quoted above. The facts of the case as seen now by myself are as follows :- (a). Over the whole of the 24 Wraith cars produced the average is 28 cwts. 0 qrs. 26 lbs. (b). The particulars of the experimental Wraith referred to were :- Chassis weight 26 cwts. 2 qrs. 11 lbs. This car, however, included aluminium brake drums, it had the original engine mountings, front and rear, which were very light pieces, and proved to be unsatisfactory. There was an addition to the clutch mechanism, and furthermore it did not include spares. Adding to the chassis weight the increases covering the points mentioned the actual weight of a modern car should be :- cwts. qrs. lbs.
