To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} 1114 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.6/MH.{M. Huckerby}6.9.37. Referring to memos Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/HER1/JB.30.8.37, Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/HER.2/JB.30.8.37, Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/HER3/JB.30.8.37, Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/HER.4/JB.30.8.37, three of the four oil coolers in question have been sectioned etc. for investigation purposes, and are therefore, scrap. We are endeavouring to determine whether it is possible to make a success of repairing the other one, but do not anticipate success. It looks as if any oil cooler failures which occur in future will mean that the cooler matrix unit is scrap. The question of whether Messrs. John Marston or ourselves pay for the replacement cooler will have to be dettled between Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} and Messrs. Marstons. As regards the three coolers which we have scrapped, we suggest that these are charged to Company Policy, having been used for investigation of the trouble in customers hands. Any failures which occur in future should be notified immediately to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. and the failed cooler matrix unit should be sent to him.
