Reply to be addressed to John Marston Limited for the attention of AWD/AGA [Logo: NATIONAL SCHEME FOR DISABLED MEN] STD FROM JOHN MARSTON LIMITED, WOLVERHAMPTON. January 13th, 1938. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of Mr. Steadman. Dear Sirs, We wish to confirm receipt of your letter of the 11th inst., and as arranged we shall supply 50 Bentley matrices in an untested condition in order to decide whether this method of supplying matrices would be satisfactory. These will be marked as suggested in your letter. We look forward to receiving a Bentley radiator from you for use as a passing off jig for the sample shutter set and also for production purposes. With regard to the list of radiator matrices and oil coolers which have been returned to us from time to time for examination we are looking into this in order to clear these matters. We are enclosing herewith copy of our Drawing No. A.97 showing the dimensions of the shutter vane section. Regarding the cost reduction of Bentley and Phantom lll matrices if pressure testing is dispensed with, this information will be given to Mr. Royce as soon as it is available. A figure of 4/5 shillings has already been mentioned. We confirm our telephone conversation with regard to dip soldering the bottom tank to the Wraith radiator block. As mentioned then, the outlet pipe should not be fitted until after the tank is dipped on. We note that you are returning to us one Bentley lll matrice in order for the bottom tank to be dipped to it. We will also let you have the additional cost of dipping the tanks and supports on the E.B.3513 and E.W.1161 matrices in due course. Yours faithfully, for A.{Mr Adams} W. Dunn. Alf. | ||
