1280 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.9/MH.{M. Huckerby} 13th. January 1938. Messrs. The Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Co. Ltd., Leyland, Nr. Preston. For the attention of Mr. Gallop. Dear Sirs, We have received your letter of the 12th. inst., for which we thank you, and have noted with interest the quotation contained therein. We asked for this quotation as we are interested in the price of moulded bends generally. Actually, the bend shown on Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}484 may not be the final shape of the bend which we shall use, but it gives us a very useful figure for comparative purposes. We would be very interested to hear from you as soon as possible whether the bend to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}484 quoted for, specified as being in your 1033K quality, would be of rubber and canvas construction on identical lines to that of the hose which you have already supplied to this specification. We ask this because another Company with whom we have been in communication have informed us that it is not practicable to make curved canvas and rubber hoses, but say that rubber only must be used. Any information which you can give us on this point will be greatly appreciated. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
