In addition to the frame with wider flanges in hand at present, we now want a deeper frame, viz., 8" instead of 6"; at the same time it is asked that we push the back axle back about 6½". I should endeavour, using the light pattern back axle, to lengthen the frame as little as possible, that is add about 3½" to the frame length and put back the axle about 3" nearer the back cross member, if possible. You may be able to do this using the smaller pattern of back axle. Do whatever is necessary with the petrol tank that it shall not interfere with the position of the back cross member or the axle. The rear springs will then be put back the 6½" mentioned; the central pin for the cantilever springs will also go back 6½", and will (by slightly altering the camber of the spring) pass through the frame, which should be kept as deep as possible, until well over the axle. Owing to the increase of weight I doubt very much whether we ought to use thicker material, but if thicker material is used a good many holes could be put through the frame for lightening, and the cantilever rear end would be more rigid, but I think that it will be sufficient to add the 2" of depth as well as the increased width of flanges.
