| x7961 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} re Mr.Fedden's Car. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}17/E5.11.34 I had lunch with Mr.Fedden last Friday and I naturally spoke to him about his Bentley car. Generally speaking, he is delighted with it but he has one or two complaints the most important of which - and quite a new one to me on a Bentley - was a low speed wobble, which he says he gets at quite low speeds, i.e. 25 miles an hour over a certain type of road and usually when going over a railway crossing. I had not in mind at the time that he had the cycle type front wings but it has since occurred to me that this may be the cause of the trouble, although I am afraid that Mr.Fedden would not accept this as a good reason because he had similar type of wings on his Alfa Romeo. He is going to send the car up to Derby for a few days when he goes over to Paris for the Show. He has done about 10,000 miles and I think he would like us to look over it generally and decarbonise it for him but he promised to write and let me know before he actually sent it. You will be interested to know that he says it is quite the best motor car that he has ever owned and he has, as you know, owned a great many cars and is a motorist who puts up a really big mileage, i.e. 400 to 500 miles in a day and, as you will see from the above, he has done 10,000 miles in about 5 months.
