BENTLEY FRONT AXLE.

We have run on 4-B-IV for 20,000 miles a strengthened axle to N.Sch.3749. This axle has an increased section between the spring pads and pivots, and also a stiffer housing for the top pivot bearing.

At the end of 20,000 miles there was no permanent forward twist of the pivots. The pivot bearing was also in perfect condition showing none of the usual signs of overload of the housing.

We are not issuing a Standardisation Sheet for this axle as it has a 4º pivot lean, but shall fit to the next 10,000 miles car an axle to N.Sch.4000, of 1º lean, but incorporating all the strengthened features.
