FI LES.{Ivan A. Leslie} ------- ALFA-ROMEO BLOWER ON ENGINE. ------- Boost = 12" Hg. at 4500 r.p.m. Air Temp. 12°C. Compn. Ratio = (30 + 12) / 30 = 1.40:1 Allowing 20°C drop for evaporation of petrol (133 BTU/lb) Initial Temp T1 = 265°C (abs). Adiabatic temp. rise would be 265 (1.40^(2/7) - 1) = 26.8°C Curves show eff'y at 12" and 4500 r.p.m. of 48% Actual temp. rise therefore :- = 26.8 / .48 = 56°C. Temp. rise found on rig with dry air was around 50 - 60°C. Above calculation with dry air could be 28.9°C Actual rise 45-12 = 33 °C. ---------- | ||
