24.932. FILES ----- POWERPLUS BLOWER No.10 ON ENGINE. Boost at 4000-5000 r.p.m. = 17" Hg. Air Temp = 12°C. Assume 20°C taken from air by evaporation of petrol (Latent heat about 133 BTU/lb.) Then initial abs. temp. T1 = 265°C Adiabatic eff'y curves of blower show about 40% eff'y for 17" boost at 5000 r.p.m. Compression ratio = (30 + 17) / 30 = 1.567:1 Adiabatic temp. rise would be 265 (1.567^(2/7) -1) = 36.6°C. Actual temp. rise will be 36.6 / .40 = 91.5°C Temp. rises measured on test at Powerplus works' at 5100 r.p.m. = 95°C for 20" boost (dry air). Above calculation for dry air (T1 = 285°C) would give 98.2° ----- | ||
